Job description, responsibilities and duties
Main Duties:
The main responsibilities of the position are as follows, although the job holder will be required to take on other tasks and roles as required and as directed by the Head of Political Section:
To monitor, report, influence and lobby in support of UK’s prosperity in the area of economy, energy, climate change and environment – both bilaterally and on the EU level;
To develop and deliver influencing campaigns on particular policy dossiers;
To develop high-level contacts with key stakeholders in relevant Government institutions, think-tanks, NGOs, trade associations and the business community, both in Slovakia and the UK;
To coordinate Embassy’s commercial diplomacy work and cooperate with colleagues from the UK Trade and Investment;
To collaborate effectively with policy colleagues across the CEE region and in the UK on policy and public diplomacy events and strategic campaigns;
To develop and manage programmes for inward and outward visits;

Information about the selection process
This is a locally engaged position in the British Embassy Bratislava; it is not a diplomatic designated position. The position is subject to the terms and conditions of British Embassy employees.
This is a permanent full-time position of 5 working days, 36,5 hours per week. The Embassy operates a system of flexible working hours. The annual leave entitlement is minimum 20 days per year as according to Slovak labour law, (25 days for those over 33 years of age). The Embassy also enjoys an average of 14 public holidays per year.
All applicants should have the right to live and work in Slovakia. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearance.

Good communication and interpersonal skills;
Excellent command of spoken and written English and Slovak language;
Excellent knowledge of MS Office packages.
