Job description, responsibilities and duties

For our client, a branch of an international law firm in Bratislava, we are currently seeking suitable candidates for the position of QUALIFIED LAWYER – BANKING AND FINANCE. At this position you will be a part of banking/finance team of lawyers providing legal services to local and international clients, part of the role is business development (maintaining client relationships). This position is designed for a local lawyer but also relevant for Slovak lawyers working in Czech Republic, wanting to return to Slovakia, or possibly Czech lawyers willing to move to Bratislava.

Job description, responsibilities and duties
• Legal advice and consultancy in the area of financing and refinancing transactions (i. e. local as well as cross-border acquisitions), corporate finance, real estate finance
• Drafting, amending reviewing and negotiating documentation related to financing transactions and financial restructuring and insolvency projects;
• Legal due diligence
• Providing legal advice also in the area of corporate and commercial law and the area of regulation and securities
• Handling multiple projects within deadlines;
• Client relations and business development: managing existing client contacts, strengthening firms relationships with clients, and establishing new relationships with potential clients;
• Cooperating with legal and non-legal staff of the firm as a team player;
• Negotiations with clients and counterparties;
• Preparation of draft contracts and other legal documents in local language and in English;
• Communication with courts and administrative authorities

University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2) and Slovak - Proficiency (C2)

Personality requirements and skills

Personality requirements and skills
• Advocate/Associate minimum years after Bar exams in the area of banking and finance in an international law firm or significant Czech/Slovak law firm
• Local university education – Faculty of Law
• LL.M, previous work experience abroad, economic background/education is an advantage
• Advanced command of English (written and oral), including legal terminology, fluent Slovak/Czech
• Excellent knowledge of Slovak law, experience with LMA documentation
• Ability to provide comprehensive legal services to international and Slovak clients and ability to understand client needs
• Managerial skills and ability to lead transactions independently
• Very good presentation and communication skills, positive and open approach, team player
• Good time management, negotiation and organizational skills
• Flexibility in terms of areas of work and commitment to extra effort to work.
