Job description, responsibilities and duties
Value stream leader is responsible for increasing the ratio of value to non-value, and eliminating waste in the overall supply chain from start to finish, for a defined product family; and for ensuring that the value stream meets or exceeds customer requirements.
Manage the activities of the shop floor, under the direction of the Operations Manager and follow established procedures and approved processes.
Manage all production operations such as machining, processing and assembly.
Plan, schedule and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver manufactured products in a timely fashion.
Daily Standard Work which includes:
Gemba Walk:
- Arrange support requirements (Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Materials)
- Deals with all personnel issues
- Reviews and responds to expedite requests (Y or N)
2nd Gemba Walk:
- Deals with abnormalities
- Check performance metrics at all cells in the value stream
- Follow up on expedite requests
- Verify Team Leader adherence to standard work
- Formal audit of standard work in one area
- Lead continuous improvement meeting

Requires a B.S. Degree in a technical field, or 5 to 10 years of progressive manufacturing experience and responsibilities, 3 of which should be in a supervisory capacity.
Requires broad technical and administrative experience in a manufacturing machine shop environment.
Will have a knowledge of manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.
Is familiar with product construction and application.
This position requires person highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently with
strong leadership skills.
Should be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
Working knowledge of lean or TPS principles.
