Job description, responsibilities and duties
Principal Network Architect supports the customer’s corporate network infrastructure and translates business needs into technical solutions, and defining solutions to problems through reasoned application of information technology.
Responsibilities:
• Rapid application development environment for strategic outsourcing projects.
• Designs, develops, documents and analyzes overall architecture of systems, including hardware and software.
• Determines integrated hardware and software architecture solutions that meet performance, usability, scalability, reliability, and security needs.
• Provide architecture designs and cost estimates for midrange infrastructure required to provide computing resources for applications.
• Researches and recommends technology to improve the current systems.
• Provides specialized technical guidance to others in work area.
• Supports testing, planning, problem management, change management and staging of network hardware and configurations.
• Provides customer support including testing network hardware and software, equipment installation and turn-up, and remote hands assistance as required.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and leadership required to recover from the most complex networking problems for the customer’s LAN/WAN environments.
• Participate in identification of root cause analysis, resolution, outage mitigations, testing and implementation of vendor/IT fixes or design changes.
• Work closely with the business partners to identify/quantify business issues associated with specific projects, develop/implement business strategy, and assist in setting strategic tech direction in support of customer facing organizations.
• Review/approve proposed tech system designs in collaboration with team.

Key Competencies and Skills:
• Software development experience; Java, Python, XML, NETCONF, YANG. (Cisco Tail-f/NSO product experience a plus)
• Knowledge of application design activities, tools and techniques; ability to utilize these to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.
• Ability to utilize a variety of specific tools and toolkits for the development and support of applications.
• Ability to test, write, design, debug, troubleshoot and maintain source code and computer programs.
• Experience with using a structured methodology for delivering new or enhanced software products to the marketplace.
• Candidate must be able to maintain a strong vendor relationship with regular interaction. Will require customer interaction and be confident enough to own deliverables and report back to them on status.
• Requires providing occasional pre-sales support on a wide variety of technologies and abstract designs.
• Configuration of network servers, VMs, secure communications
• Provide network modeling, prototyping and simulation testing, and consulting to further clarify needs to deliver application functionality.
Additional Information:
Working hours is primarily EMEA but will occasionally need to attend US hours meetings.
