Software Packaging Engineer

The Software Package Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and supporting software packages for enterprise-wide deployment. You will work closely with software developers, system administrators, and other IT professionals to package and distribute software applications, ensuring that they are compatible with various operating systems and hardware platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design, build, and test software packages for enterprise-wide deployment
• Analyze software requirements and architect the most efficient packaging solution
• Develop and maintain package distribution mechanisms and scripts
• Work with software developers and system administrators to ensure that software packages are compatible with various operating systems and hardware platforms
• Maintain software package documentation and support guides
• Troubleshoot and resolve software package distribution issues
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies related to software packaging and deployment

Required Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in software package engineering, with experience in package management systems such as SCCM, WSUS, or Chocolatey
• Proficient in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, and Bash
• Knowledge of software development lifecycles, software testing methodologies, and software deployment best practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment and to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Preferred Skills:
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and deployment platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare or Hyper-V
