Information about the position
Job description, responsibilities and duties
A member of the design engineering team which contributes to the overall success of the organisation by carrying out vehicle & system design and engineering specification activities for the organisation.
We are looking for several Design Engineers for the following functional areas:
• Body structures
• Chassis
• Actuation & Mechanics
• Electronics
• Interior
• Parachute systems & Crash structure
• Passive safety
Performing a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:
Engineering
• Creation of engineering designs in 2D & 3D.
• Providing data and assisting in the creation of all departmental component and system specifications.
• Play a part in the construction and verification program.
• Coordinate the construction of component and system FMEA documentation.
• Coordinate the creation of engineering reports and technical summary presentations.
• Assist in the construction and continuous maintenance of Bill of Material and PDM data
• Assist in the construction and planning of departmental development plans and legislation compliance plans.
System based vehicle optimisation
• Work within the departmental team in the optimisation and specification of all engineering systems and components in line with the business goals and project targets.
Vehicle Cost Coordination
• Support the Chief Engineer in the preparation and presentation budgetary and forecast information for component and systems material costs and investment costs.
Engineering Timing Coordination and Management
• Work with Chief Engineer to plan all engineering activities in line with business milestones, maintaining accurate component and tooling lead times for each component/system and ensuring timely release of all designs to meet the project goals.
