Software Development Team Leader

You will be leading the development of components in our home-grown telecom BSS/OSS platform, ETBOSS. Those developments are performed on the back of customer projects, or driven by projects to develop the capabilities of the platform. ETBOSS is a custom application mainly built on Microsoft technologies - .Net and SQL Server, with some additional components leveraging Java and the Spring framework. You will as well define the integration model between ETBOSS and our customers IT environments and applications.


Duties and Responsibilities

You will be working on the next generation of products for telecommunications within a vibrant and friendly development team. Elephant Talk is looking to expand its team with bright individuals who are excited by technology.

• Leading a team of 4 – 5 people to develop new features of our ETBOSS platform, adapt current features to new needs or refactor the code to improve performance or efficiency.
• Keep the team motivated and help them to achieve the committed delivery dates, keeping track of the progress.
• Organize the tasks the team has to perform solving resources conflicts and controlling the good performance of all team members.
• Collaborate in the High Level Solution Design for our customers or platform development projects, balancing the solution to match project specific and domain related requirements.
• Participation in the definition, communication and enforcement of coding practices and software architecture guidelines.
• Actively support the various development activities on a given project, by actively supporting all development phases – from requirements gathering to testing, including design and coding.
• Support project managers in shaping and estimating development activities for a given project.
• Coach developers to enhance their abilities to design and code.
• Coach business analysts to develop their abilities to understand the platform capabilities, and to help them understand when additional capabilities need to be introduced.

This position requires as well limited travels to our customer sites and offshore development facilities.


The Skills and Specifications

• A minimum of 6 years of related experience in C# developing.
• At least 3 years as manager or team leader of small developer teams.
• University degree in telecommunications or computer science.
• Expert knowledge of the software development discipline, including hands-on knowledge of latest’s Microsoft technologies .NET Framework and SQL Server.
• Experience in transactional, distributed systems and multi-threaded applications.
• Experience with real time or near-real time high volume IT systems.
• Has worked in the Telecom industry; knowledgeable and experience with TMForum Frameworx models is a plus.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design fundamentals, and MVC.
• Practical experience on system design and architecture – from a logical, physical or security perspective.
o Able to balance cost, operability and maintainability requirements.
o Experience with OS (Windows and Linux), IP Networks, High Availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Excellent knowledge of the new technology trends and its applications for the new products in the market place.
• Practical experience in performing software selection – tools, libraries, frameworks, etc.
• Knowledgeable of software development methodologies
and notations – UML, Scrum, Kanban, RUP, etc.
• Project planning and project management experience
• Able to define coding practices and guidelines.
• Acute analytical skills.
• Strong ability to communicate and ensure architecture principles adoption.
• Fluent in English; any additional main-stream language skills are advantageous.
• Must be willing to relocate to the Costa Brava area (Spain)




Additional skills

• Exposure to GPRS / CDMA /EDGE Wireless Data technologies and Data networking concepts, particularly the 3GPP standards and Intelligent Networks.
• Experience in the design of IP networks.
• Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS-Project, Power Point, SharePoint).
• Cross-border work experience within an international company.
