Information about the position

Job description, responsibilities and duties

This role comprises of ensuring full legal VAT compliance in all countries belonging to the Mondelez EU region (currently 23) including the ownership of all VAT related modules in SAP, next to the governance of VAT related settings for the entire European SAP instance. It requires the incumbent to manage and coordinate all VAT matters, mainly in relation to Legal, Local Tax, CS&L, Master data, Information Systems and other departments within Mondelez. Additionally this role requires liaising with external service providers to ensure VAT compliance.

The person in this role manages the review and approval of VAT reports prepared by the service provider, and subsequently signs those on behalf of Mondelez, becoming herewith liable for the data reported.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage VAT work-streams in major and strategic and other important business projects.
  • Enforce and manage continuous improvement in the area of VAT and drive simplification and harmonization in all VAT compliance processes, considering as well the needs and the implications on the service providers side.
  • Manage project teams in the area of VAT, respectively VAT sub work streams in regional/global projects.
  • Ownership of all VAT related SAP modules on the European SAP instance, which includes the management and coordination of tax determination settings belonging to different areas of the business.
  • Continuous review of VAT changes in EU jurisdictions and informing impacted parties (e.g. service provider) on any change.
  • Provide VAT related legal advice and VAT trainings.
  • Ensure VAT compliance for VAT returns prepared by the service providers.
  • Create strong morale and spirit, assign priorities, provide guidance and support to subordinates.

  • High School Degree in Economics is a plus
  • At least 3 years working experience in the area of VAT
  • Strong knowledge of VAT in Europe and good understanding of implications in changes of VAT rules
  • Strong SAP skills
  • Presentation skills and ability to influence people
  • Strong Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in an international environment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good people management skills
  • English language – fluent speaker
  • Other languages are an advantage
