Job Description

The HP NonStop Database Administrator will be responsible for all database related tasks for the HP NonStop environment. The primary responsibility is the operation and maintenance of the systems database. This position will be leading the design, maintenance, troubleshooting and other aspects of support. There will also be on-call responsibility from a system administration perspective, as this position will participate in the service delivery on-call rotation. Additionally, this person works with business leaders and other technical staff groups and is responsible for business-critical audit and compliance issues. The HP NonStop Database Administrator is expected to follow standard change and problem management processes.

Ensures day-to-day operations of HP NonStop system, including an on-call duty
Maintains the HP NonStop database and tables in NonStop SQL
Evaluates the database design from a production perspective
Monitors and fine-tunes the productive HP NonStop databases for core applications
Performance and capacity planning incl. reporting
Runs backups, reloads and initiates reorganization of database
Supports the users in the production environment
Supports HP NonStop Systems Programmer during release changes and patches
Supports projects that affect the HP NonStop system

Candidate Requirements

Degree in computer science or related field
4+ years of relevant experience as a database administrator (HP NonStop SQL)
Comfortable with all aspects of maintenance and administration of HP NonStop systems, esp. database related work during installation and configuration, planning and implementing release changes and patches
Experiencee with the maintenance and administration of of HP NonStop security concept
Knowledge of performance and capacity planning and enhancement
Excellent knowledge of HP NonStop SQL database
Good knowledge of backup/restores, archiving and disaster recovery of the systems
Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (TACL Macro language; TAL and TEXEC)
Ability to provide 24x7 on call support
Problem solving skills, troubleshooting and analytical skills
Self-direction and service orientation with a strong focus on team work
Attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and to prioritize tasks appropriately
Excellent skills in written and verbal English
