Job description, responsibilities and duties
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides the necessary Buyer skills to support the purchasing department and the plants in achieving optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity and delivery to assure internal and external customer. Obtains materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
This position works under the limited supervision of Plant Purchasing Leader and is considered an intermediate level. Learns to apply knowledge to non-routine situations, seeking guidance when needed. Performs most work activities with some degree of independent judgment.
• Support the Company’s mission, vision, values, and goals in performance of daily activities.
• Provides key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurable.
• Responsible for purchasing items in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Responsible for preparing request for quotations (RFQ’s) based on projections for combined plant quantity and material requirements
• Evaluate, purchase and expedite materials for our facilities at a competitive cost.
• Must be knowledgeable of marketplace cost drivers. Close interaction with corporate and plant personnel is required.
• Develop strong knowledge of the OEM equipment marketplace as well as plant operations.
• Utilize purchasing terminology (or be comfortable learning it)
• Utilize Supplier Relationship Management programs that focus on Quality, Productivity, and Innovation.
• Analyzes quotations received, selects or recommend suppliers, and schedules deliveries.
• Assists the plants in following up to expedite delivery and shipment.
• Checks and approves invoices to maintain necessary records and files for efficient operation.
• Collect, analyze and monitor category specific information on spend, supplier performance, user adoption and compliance, standards and specifications, industry benchmarks.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the work area.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.
• Assures compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations and laws.
• Adherence to all company policies and procedures.
RELATIONSHIPS/CONTACTS
Reports directly to the Purchasing Leader Manager Eastern Europe. Provide support to the plant located in Slovakia and Czech republic (nearby Mlada Boleslav). Interfaces on a frequent basis with suppliers and plant materials colleagues. Interfaces on an as needed basis with department managers, engineers, or operations staff
Position requires regular business trips to between Slovakia and Czech republic.
