Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are looking for a person capable of software development, in object oriented world, using industry standard development stacks and supporting tools and frameworks.
You will become part of a team providing application services in all phases of application lifecycle.
The position is aiming at a specific customer and project, however you are assumed to be a versatile developer to cope with various working scenarios, types of service and environment at our Customers.
Project-wise, work may be bound to a specific tier of an application, e.g. frontend, but not necessarily.
Senior may lead a small team of developers and manage their work, from technical perspective.
Senior may consult key users at Customers.

QUALIFICATION
We expect a degree in IT application domain, however, if you are self-taught and competent in software development and tools in use, a relevant degree is less of an asset.
Further we expect at least 4 years of hands-on experience implementing software solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute to software development projects.
Participate in any if following project phases - analysis of requirements, design, coding and bugfixing. Eventually in the design of testing scenarios or implementation of automated tests as well.
Manage own tasks efficiently to deliver the scope on time. Provide effort estimates, identify risks, remove issues.
Communicate efficiently with all project members and stakeholders, participate actively in project meetings.
Be alive in developers' community, with respect to knowledge sharing, mentoring. Maintain and grow professional network. Seniors provide mentoring and leadership to younger colleagues.
Be innovative, search for optimization of the working procedures and improvement of workproducts.
Continuously gain knowledge and improve own capabilities.

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

A keen interest in software development domain.
Knowledge of Java and related technologies and frameworks for (web) development, such as Spring, JBoss, Apache MQ, Javascript, CSS3, HTML5, AngularJS, Bower, Npm. Optionally any of following: Apache ServiceMix, VuFind, Drools, Typescript, NodeJS, Angular 2, Webpack, EJB, Hibernate.
Usage of industry-standard development environment, e.g. Eclipse.
Usage of one of standard frameworks for software configuration management, e.g. git, svn.
Awareness of standard build and deployment frameworks, e.g. Maven.
Knowledge of relational database principles, including SQL.
Usage of some documentation and coding styleguide.
A good level of concentration and resilience to stay focused on a project to the end and meet client deadlines.
An interest in problem solving.
An open, flexible and adaptable mindset to cope with a rapidly changing set of tasks.
Excitement about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders, still possess a reasonable level of self-organization and independence in ownership and judgement.
Willingness to help teammates, share knowledge and experience with them, and learn from them.
Openness to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.

Optionally
Knowledge of Agile software development approach.
Software design principles and modelling techniques using tools.
Other foreign language skill and affinity, e.g. German is an advantage.
Capability in both frontend and backend development is an advantage.
